Las Vegas, NV – Brad Lee Barnhill, Independent American Party candidate for Nevada Senate District 6, will be appearing before the Clark County District Court this morning at 9:30 AM after the court closed a case concerning voter roll accuracy without hearing his motion to intervene. Barnhill is fighting to ensure that nearly 20,000 ballots from voters identified as having moved are not counted until their eligibility is confirmed.
Despite the original plaintiff dismissing the case, Barnhill has reminded the court that his legal interest in the matter remains, as the accuracy of the voter rolls directly impacts his candidacy in the 2024 general election.
“This morning, I will stand before the court to make it clear that my interest in protecting the integrity of this election remains unaffected by the dismissal of the original case,” said Barnhill. “As a candidate, I have a right to ensure that ineligible ballots are not counted, and I look forward to presenting my case.”
Intervenor’s Legal Standing and Election Integrity
Barnhill had filed a motion to intervene, seeking to hold aside ballots from 19,740 voters who may no longer reside at their registered addresses. His motion further called for an investigation by the Clark County District Attorney into any ballots returned under suspicious circumstances. Barnhill is relying on legal precedent to argue that his standing as an intervenor remains intact, even after the plaintiff’s voluntary dismissal.
“I have a significant, protectable interest in this election,” Barnhill stated. “I will not allow this issue to be swept aside without a thorough examination, especially when the legitimacy of thousands of ballots is in question.”
